Do I need an account to use the Budget Tracker?
You do not need a server account. You create your own username and password in your browser, and that private login keeps your budget and spending separate from anyone else using the same device. It is a per-device login, so you will need to create a login again on a different phone or computer.
How does the 50/30/20 split work?
It is a target shown in the tool: 50% of your income for needs, 30% for wants and 20% for savings. The tool calculates your actual split from the spending categories you record, so you can compare your real spending with that target.
Can I set a limit for each category?
Yes. You can add categories, choose whether each is a need, a want or savings, and set a monthly budget for it. The tool shows spending, remaining budget and progress for each category, and flags it when spending goes over budget.
Is the Budget Tracker really free?
Yes, it is free to use online and to download. You can set a monthly budget, track category spending and compare it with the 50/30/20 plan without paying, and you can also export your spending as a CSV file.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your budget and spending are stored only in your browser on this device, not on a server. Other logins on the same device cannot see your data, but clearing your browser data will remove it, so export a CSV copy if you want a backup.
